Textured shuro palm skilfully handwoven over dark wood to create a traditional and enduring style of Japanese trivet made from the highest quality natural materials. Shuro palm is extremely durable and highly heat resistant ensuring these trivets offer protection for delicate worktops and table tops from hot pans, kettles, roasting trays and baking tins. Naturally textured and finished with a simple hanging loop, these trivets are functional decorative objects adding a natural feel to a kitchen or dining area when not in use.

Handcrafted in Japan by Takada Tawashi, each trivet is made one at a time by skilled artisans who have been making shuro palm trivets, brushes and brooms in the Takada Tawashi workshop for over 70 years.

Made entirely by hand using traditional skills honed over centuries and crafted from carefully-selected natural materials the exceptional quality of these trivets ensures they will withstand daily use for decades. The highest quality shuro palm used to make each trivet is harvested from trees grown using organic farming methods in the Wakayama Prefecture in Japan. No chemicals such as pesticides or disinfectants are used on the shuro palm trees during this process.

Takada Tawashi’s aim is to preserve the traditional shuro palm industry within Japan as well as the unique techniques of superior craftsmen which have been passed down for generations.
