HANDMADE HERITAGE COPPER WATERING CAN
Made of pure polished copper, each one of these Heritage Watering Cans has been handcrafted into the same classic design that has made them so desirable for over a century. Featuring an elegantly curved spout, this beautiful can comes complete with a removable brass water-defusing rose that gently nourishes plants by dispensing a soft fine spray.
Through time the copper exterior will begin to capture the marks and traces of its use. Maintaining the can’s warm copper glow can be achieved through a slow meditative polishing, but if left to age naturally, the copper will turn a rich verdigris that will tell the unique story of its use.
Haws started over a century ago when Mr John Haws patented an improved watering can in East London. Inspired by a French made watering pot, Mr Haws was determined to create his own version of that would build upon and improve the design he was already so impressed with. He set out to create a beautiful and functional watering can with the perfect balance and could be handled without undue strain whether full or empty. Upon realising his ambitions, he filed a patent that read: ‘This new invention forms a watering pot that is much easier to carry and tip, and at the same time being much cleaner, and more adapted for use than any other put before the public.’ His invention soon gained recognition from experienced horticulturists and in 1894 he received the National Chrysanthemum Society Gold Medal award for his improved watering can design. To this day, the original design has not been altered in any major way and Haws continue to produce the finest quality watering goods, most of them by hand, in England.
We love that the rich history and heritage of this brand are captured not only in the designs but in the quality of each and every Haws product.
