This kettle is special. Every functional detail has been thoughtfully considered to create an object that is as much a work of art as it is a utilitarian aid to daily life. The smooth curved lines of its body are punctured with crafted copper plugs that hold the handle in place while at the same time allowing it to move. The gently curving spout leads to an opening that enables just the right amount of water to pour out. The minimalist silhouette has been finished with a beautiful matte surface demonstrating Japanese simplicity in its purest form. But what makes this kettle truly special is that its beauty continues to unfold over time. The surface of each kettle is initially covered with a wax coating. But as the coat wears off, the kettle will begin to develop a rich dark patina unique to the way it is used.
Beautifully made in Japan by Azmaya, a collective hailing from the Niigata region that collaborates with designers, artisans, and small manufacturers to create contemporary versions of Japanese design classics for daily life. The handcraft in their production results in subtle variations and unique characteristics, individual to each kettle.
Thoughtfully conceived, elegantly designed and impeccably crafted, this heirloom quality item transforms the daily task of making tea and coffee into a ritual to be savoured.

Care and use: always fill the kettle completely to prevent scorching the interior surface. Never heat an empty vessel. Hand wash with soap. Polish with a copper cleaner or lemon and vinegar to remove tarnish if desired, but we prefer ours to patina and age with grace.
