HANDMADE RAMEN BOWL IN FIG
Bowls in a variety of sizes are one of the most versatile items you can have in your kitchen. From breakfast to dinner, they offer a simple tactile way to eat healthy, plant-forward meals. From salads to stews, soups to curries, held in one hand we are freed to eat anywhere from the garden to sitting perched on a windowsill.
These large Ramen Bowls are perfect for broth-based meals like ramen, stews, curries, abundance bowls as well as for whisking eggs or serving salads family style. They stack neatly on top of one another, look lovely on an open kitchen shelf and when used with our Cloth Bowl Covers are an ideal way to store food in the fridge without plastic. They are substantial without being too heavy and feel very robust making them great for whisking and mixing as well as serving.
The semi-matte glaze is a little different from most other glazes you will find out there. Variations from warm earthy creams and browns to olive greens all within one bowl mean that no two bowls are exactly alike. The variation in glaze thickness throughout creates an aurora of lighter colour while the dark freckles in brown add character and interest. We love how matte and semi-matte glazes feel in hand as well as their unique aesthetics which are subtle, warm and natural. This semi-matte glaze is durable and more scratch-resistant compared to fully matte glazes, making the perfect finishing touch for a functional everyday bowl.
Designed and handmade in small batches in Oakland, California by Sarah Kersten and her small team of artisans. Sarah works with high fired stoneware for its strength and for the beauty of its features which are always muted and subtle in hue. These traits along with a passion for seasonal cooking, a deep respect for the pottery tradition and a love of being and making at home make define her comforting, homey functional pottery.

Each piece is unique and the subtle variations in size, shape, glazing colour and pattern are characteristic of the handmaking process, not faults.
We have tried to show the variation in colour by photographing two different bowls with the same glaze, however, every individual piece will be unique. The final two images show the Ramen Bowl in both Fig and Straw glazes.
